The NSW Government recently announced changes to their support for businesses impacted by the Omicron wave.

2022 Small Business Support Program

What is it?
Businesses with employees will receive up to 20% of weekly payroll as a lump sum for the month of February at a minimum of $750 per week, and up to $5000 maximum per week.
Businesses without employees will receive a lump sum of $2000 ($500 per week).
The program is for the month of February 2022 only, and businesses can apply through Service NSW from mid-February 2022.
Who is eligible?
Businesses with a turnover of between $75,000 and $50 million can apply if they experienced a minimum decline in turnover of 40% in January 2022 and the first fortnight of February 2022.

Changes to Small Business Fees and Charges Rebates
This existing program has been increased from $2000 to $3000 and will take effect from late March 2022.

What can the rebate be used for?

  • Eligible employing small businesses can use the rebate towards the cost of rapid antigen tests.
  • The rebate can also be used for:
    • food authority licenses
    • liquor licenses
    • tradesperson licenses
    • event fees
    • outdoor seating fees
    • council rates
    • road user tolls for business use.
    • Small businesses that are eligible can claim government fees and charges incurred during 1 March 2021 to 30 June 2022.

How to apply
Already registered businesses will be automatically topped-up to $1000, and newly registered businesses will receive $3000.
Apply by setting up a business profile with Service NSW.

Commercial Landlord Hardship Grant
This grant has been extended until 13 March 2022 and can be applied for through Service NSW.
The grant is up to $300 per month (inc GST) for eligible landlords who have provided their effected tenants with rental waivers.
The waived rent must be at least half of any rental reduction provided.

Performing Arts Relaunch Package Extension
Create NSW has extended this package until 30 April 2022.
Funding has also increased for performing artists in NSW.  Funding will be provided to impacted entities and performing artists who are unable to access other financial support.
