Single Touch Payroll End-of-Year Finalisation

For businesses that employ staff, the deadline for submitting your 2026 Single Touch Payroll (STP) finalisation with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is July 14, 2026.

The STP finalisation process ensures that all payroll information, such as employees’ wages, PAYG withholding, and superannuation contributions are accurately reported to the ATO.

Income statements (formerly known as payment summaries) are no longer required to be issued to employees; instead these income statements are available on the employee’s myGov account.

Once you have finalised the STP lodgement, you can advise staff that their Income Statement is ready.

Failing to meet this deadline may result in penalties and potential compliance issues.

It’s time to renew your Workcover policy!

Declaring the wages for your business is an important part of renewing your accident insurance policy and a key responsibility as an employer.

If you run a business in Queensland and employ workers, you must hold an accident insurance policy to insure them against work-related injury or illness.

If you have an accident insurance policy with WorkCover Queensland, you must declare your wages before 31 August each year.

Key dates:

  • From 1 July – declare your wages early using online services or over the phone and take advantage of a payment plan if you need it
  • 31 August – wage declarations due and the final day to claim the apprentice discount
  • 16 September – if you pay in full by this date and your wages were declared on time, you’ll receive a discount on your premium
  • 30 September – your full premium payment is due by this date if you don’t have a payment plan

Who do you need to cover?

  • All PAYG employees are generally considered workers. It is important to remember that a sole trader or sub-contractor may also be included in the definition of a worker and be included in your workcover calculations. There are tests you can apply to help you work out who is considered a worker and who isn’t
